The Art Islands and Shodoshima

A train, bus and ferry from Kyoto takes us to Naoshima. The main ‘art island’ in the Seeto inland Sea, run by the Benesse group. The museums were designed by Japanese architect Ando Tadao. Met up with American friends and on the first night saw the James Turrell night experience at the Chichu Art Museum. Then back to our fabulous accommodation at the Oval - part of the Benesse museum. Superb Japanese food and fun exploring the art on the island. Of course, the iconic pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama is a standout.
